Jambeera Pinda Sweda or Naranga Kizhi is an Ayurvedic speciality treatment that is mainly used to provide relief from pain. The treatment also effectively wards off the inflammation, swelling and stiffness associated with bone, joint and or musculoskeletal pains.

Swedana is a treatment procedure in which sweat is induced by application of heat. In Jambira Pinda Sweda, the potali or bolus (pinda) containing jambeera or lemon is heated before application over the painful or affected area. The bolus, which will also contain other medicated herbs according to the condition, is applied over the patient’s body or the affected area in such a way that the bolus is made to have contact for fraction of seconds, so that ample heat is referred into the body or the affected part and sweat is induced. In this ancient Ayurvedic cure, the bolus is rubbed over the entire body or the affected areas of the patient in the following 7 postures:

1) Sitting

2) Supine

3) Left lateral

4) Supine

5) Right Lateral
